about

Ossies career to date is somewhat of a microcosm of the London electronic scene over the last decade. Emerging in the buzzing, innovative post-dubstep scene, he released two EPs of broken beat electronica through Kode 9s superlative Hyperdub, Detroit techno flavours on Lightworks, and then moved into the UK house underground with releases on Wolf Music, 2020 Midnight Visions and his own Super Cali label. His eclectic output and diverse influences make him a vital producer, and this second EP for Exploited after 2017s Milk delivers another three tracks of dancefloor gold.

We Mad is a pumping house workout, flexing with weighty garage bass and percussive grooves, while discordant keys play out a tense refrain. The powerful, politicised vocal speech and snippets of diva wailing are used to great effect, lifting the already highly energetic track up another level. My Rail goes in a more heads down direction, with a driving low end groove pummeling away beneath disorientating string cut-ups. Channeling vintage Kerri Chandler, its a relentless workout for when you want to keep things rolling. From Reece strips things down to basics, with a tight, snappy groove and sumptuous 808 bass tones working away under a pitchshifting hip-hop vocal sample creating a vibe thats not too dissimilar to the early golden days of Switch. Mellow keys and a warm meandering synth soften things up as the track progresses.

With support for his music from the likes of Benji B, Gilles Peterson and Annie Mac and appearances at Sonar, Lovebox, XOYO and Boiler Room, Ossie is one of the most exciting names in the new skool of house music.
